Product Identifiers for EU shipments

From 1st November 2026, new product IDs are required for shipments into the EU.

Packing Partner will automatically supply the information to your carrier where required.

What will be sent to the carriers is:

M-PID
Packing Partner item SKU

NS-PID
Value from the corresponding Lookup column, otherwise Packing Partner item Code

S-PID
Value from the corresponding Lookup column, otherwise nothing (non mandatory)

About the Lookup

The Lookup is for adding info to an item in an order, or transforming item info that came from the channel.

It's best practice to use the SKU column for matching, but the Title and Code values on an item can also be used.

So for example the SKU that is on the channel is what you put in that column, so that when a sale of that item comes in, Packing Partner can locate the correct row.

When a sale is collected, Packing Partner looks for the items in the lookup by the SKU (or title/code) that came from the channel. If it finds a match, the item within the sale record is updated with a new title (if enabled), dimensions, weight, customs info and so on.

There are two new columns available in the Lookup, NS-PID and S-PID.

Ideally, your manufacturer's part number goes into NS-PID, but if you don't have that, Packing Partner will fall back on the value of Code on the item. What goes into the Code value on an item is channel specific and can be mapped in Settings > Features.

That initial value from the channel can be overwritten with a value you've entered in the Lookup as mentioned above. M-PID and NS-PID are mandatory. So what we're doing, is using the existing SKU value for M-PID (no new M-PID column) and then allowing users to set their own NS-PID. If you don't set it in the lookup, then whatever you've got in Code on the item will be used. S-PID is not mandatory.

We're falling back on Code for NS-PID to reduce friction and issues, but ideally the NS-PID should be set to the manufacturer's part number.

Please get in touch if you'd like to arrange some advanced support with your Lookup data.
